So one of the training circuits i'm doing is called "The Future You Want To Create." It's based on information given to Best Buy by Carr Hagerman of Ontend Creative Partners. My take on this is that basically the future is what we make it.
I was one of those that just kind of sat around, doing my thing, not really taking a stand or being proactive in my life and I really had no idea why I wasn't going anywhere. I was intelligent, personable and really knew my job... why wasn't I getting a promotion?
The plain and simple fact was that I was sitting and waiting to be noticed. Unless you star in a movie or look like a supermodel that doesn't happen... it took some honest and frankly difficult looks into what my assumptions were to make me break that cycle. If you think about it your whole life is a story based on the future that you want to have happen. And using that logic, you have to take at least one step toward that future or it will be just another dream or idea that goes nowhere.
Maybe you just talk to a friend about your future and the ideas that you have for advice or approaches. Maybe you enroll in one class online. Perhaps you learn a magic trick to use at parties. Whatever the goal, the only way that you will ever attain it is by starting with one single, insignificant thing to get that momentum going.
What step will you take toward the "Future You Want To Create"?

dude, I know we don't know each other, but we need to get up for a beer. Jeff (@cpital1) jeffreymacphail@gmail.com , I live downtown. Happy hour or late night cap? what neighborhood you live in?
I've been passed over 3 times for promotion because 1) -1 year of seniority, 2) didn't kiss enough ass, and 3) not big enough of a bitch.
Basically, now I'm not ever sticking my neck out again at that department and am jumping the company ship as soon as the ink in dry on my Master's degree.
A-Trophy: Sounds cool. I'll shoot you an email. I'm in SW Minneapolis near the Edina theater area in Fulton.

I totally hear what you are saying. When you never get acknowledged for doing a good job or for not drinking the cool-aid then I honestly think it's better to look elsewhere.
You do need some kind of intention, and to try things to get you out of your box (everyone i mean). Don't die wondering. I think doing anything that plugs you in gets that energy into your life and it goes form there. It attracts other good stuff to you. ;)
