The future you want to create

So one of the training circuits i'm doing is called "The Future You Want To Create." It's based on information given to Best Buy by Carr Hagerman of Ontend Creative Partners. My take on this is that basically the future is what we make it.

I was one of those that just kind of sat around, doing my thing, not really taking a stand or being proactive in my life and I really had no idea why I wasn't going anywhere. I was intelligent, personable and really knew my job... why wasn't I getting a promotion?

The plain and simple fact was that I was sitting and waiting to be noticed. Unless you star in a movie or look like a supermodel that doesn't happen... it took some honest and frankly difficult looks into what my assumptions were to make me break that cycle. If you think about it your whole life is a story based on the future that you want to have happen. And using that logic, you have to take at least one step toward that future or it will be just another dream or idea that goes nowhere.

Maybe you just talk to a friend about your future and the ideas that you have for advice or approaches. Maybe you enroll in one class online. Perhaps you learn a magic trick to use at parties. Whatever the goal, the only way that you will ever attain it is by starting with one single, insignificant thing to get that momentum going.

What step will you take toward the "Future You Want To Create"?

What the heck am I up to?

Hey, it's your friendly neighborhood cyber barbarian again.

Here to talk with you a little about what i'm up to. To start lets touch a little on community activism. We all know that I am huge into giving back to your fellow persons, and really I thought I was doing an okay amount of that... until a few weeks ago. I attended the Volunteer Expo at the Mall of America and met so many people doing so many things for their fellow persons, very inspiring. My group in South Minneapolis, Next Steps is going to be activating with local community outreach programs and do some really good things we are hoping!

Next up, I have decided i'm going to start mountain biking. I normally just do it on the street... but doing it in the woods has it's allure too. Plus It gives me an excuse to buy a different bike! :D
I don't really see this starting up till the fall, I have too much to do between now and October, anyone want to start walking a ton? You'll see why it's needed in a second or so.

I am in gear for my fundraisers... I start training tomorrow for my first cycling fundraiser of the year, the 60 mile Bike MS event on May 9th. I will be posting info on donating to the cause later, for now we're just having a fireside chat right?

Well that pretty much is about it for right now kids.

Have fun and stay classy, I'll let you know when there's more to know right?!?!
